Vernal

Trevor Lee Harbison, age 41 of Vernal, Husband of Mari Harbison, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Trevor Lee Harbison. Just the mention of his name gives us reason to stop and smile; he is larger than life to so many of us and his passing leaves us not only with heavy hearts, but feelings of gratitude for the blessing that he has been in all of our lives. Trevor was born on May 23, 1983 in Roosevelt UT to Tina and Scott Harbison, the last of three boys. He grew up surrounded by not only his immediate family but also grandparents, aunts, and uncles and knew a life full of family and friends. Legos and books were the best way to spend a day in Trevor's childhood years. From the time he was young he had a passion for both, but in time, he left the Legos behind and reading became a mainstay that lasted his lifetime. In recent years he has introduced his son, Luke, to Legos and they have enjoyed that pastime together. He learned while he was young to love food and was a connoisseur of everything simple or exotic. If you had 30 minutes, just ask him about a dish and he could tell you in great detail how to make it, different ways it could be prepared, where the dish originated, the best time of day to eat it, and what it could be paired with to make it a dining delight. In high school, singing in the choir became another focus as he joined both the Acapella Choir as well as Highlights. Later in life he and Mari both sang with the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus and brought music and the Spirit of Christmas to all that attended their concerts. After graduating from Uintah High School Trevor's love of his Savior burned deep enough in his heart that he made the choice to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He started his mission with the desire to share the love of the Lord with the good people of Argentina and along the way, he found that the people there had taken his heart and expanded it. He truly fell in love with those he served and kept in touch with many of them through the years. Trevor wanted to pursue a career in accounting and chose to attend Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT. He forever had a spot in his heart for the SUU campus and enjoyed returning to remember all that he was able to while he attended school. He not only got a masters in accountancy there but found a new love, ballroom dancing. He was great at it and danced not only with the dance team at SUU but was also on a competitive team that traveled the country meeting new people and competing for top scores. After completing his degrees, Trevor moved back to the Uintah Basin to make it his home. That is the most important decision he could have made because that is where he found his forever sweetheart. Mari Cook had moved to Vernal to take a position as an elementary school teacher and the two met at church where they quickly hit it off with their many common interests. They loved traveling, music, food, reading, and serving the Lord in His church. In time their friendship grew deeper and they started their forever family in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple on September 4, 2015. In time their family of two grew to include Luke and then Lydia. They are numbers three and four of the true highlights, the true loves of Trevor's life. First came the Lord, then Mari, then Luke, and rounded it out with Lydia. He had a passion for his family that surpassed everything else and was happiest when they could be together. He was an excellent father and husband and made sure his loved ones were provided for, protected, and most importantly loved. A favorite moment for many of us was to overhear him talking to his children because he took the time to really talk to them and explain whatever topic was at hand in a way that they could understand. Mari is his forever love; his children are his forever pride and joy. Trevor started his accounting career working at Caldwell Coombs and Folley and eventually along with others acquired the firm, changing the name to Crossroads Accounting Professionals. He was successful at not only the accounting aspect of his work but also had the ability to succeed at bringing coworkers and clients alike into his circle of friendship. He truly loved what he did and the people he worked with. Trevor made life more beautiful for all of us, not only because of the flowers he planted, tended, cared for, and shared but because he was simply 'that guy' who could be a confidant, a helper, a mentor, a teacher, and always a friend. On Thursday, July 11, 2024 Trevor passed from this earthly life to the arms of many of his loved ones who have gone before and certainly into the arms of his Savior. We will miss him always and be forever grateful for his life and example. We are all better people because of him. Trevor is survived by his wife Mari Harbison, children Luke and Lydia, mother Tina (Greg) Schwantes, brothers Gregg (Candace) Harbison, Josh (Mason) Harbison, many nieces and nephews, his grandmother Jackie Jenkins, Mari's siblings and parents Kay and Carla Cook, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
