Venissa Martinez

Venissa Rose Martinez passed away on July 28, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on November 7, 1953 to Mervin and Reyma Horrocks in Vernal, Utah.

Venissa's greatest accomplishment in this life was being a mother to her daughters. She had a great love for them. They were always her priority. She had a great love for the Savior. She possessed a strong testimony and love for the Gospel. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings and was always willing to serve the Lord. Venissa grew up in Vernal, Utah. She was the seventh of nine children. She loved her brothers and sisters. She is well known in the community as a co-owner of The Little Sweet Pea. Her talents helped her to accomplish many beautiful things that were enjoyed by so many. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her.

Venissa is survived by her daughters: Camille Hullinger, Cortney Martinez, and Blair (Shane) Heiner; grandchildren: Avery, Alivia, and Riley; mother, Reyma Horrocks; brothers: Gordon (Diane) Horrocks, Britt (Shana) Horrocks, Gawin (Kristine) Horrocks, Gregory Horrocks, and Finley (Megan) Horrocks; sisters: Gloria Hean Hoskins and Leslie (John) Hopkins; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceeded in death by her father, Mervin Horrocks; brother, Sheldon Horrocks; and infant daughter Grason Martinez.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11AM at the Glines 3rd Ward Chapel (475 West 100 South). A viewing was held Friday evening 6~8 P.M. at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and 9:45~10:45 A.M. at the chapel prior to the services. Burial was in the Dryfork Cemetery under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
