Verdell Robert Wagner

Verdell Robert Wagner, better known as Wag, passed away on June 4th, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by loved ones. Born June 17th, 1932, to his parents Violet and Christian Wagner in Belmond, Iowa.

Wag was loved by many including his children Verlinda, Bobbie Joe, Danny, Doyle, Kim, Brenda, Terry, James, Kenny, and Shawnee. Wag also had many grandchildren, each with their own special nicknames.

Wag served valiantly in The United States military and went to war to defend our beautiful country, fighting in The Korean War from 1950 to 1952. We thank him for his service to our country and honor him everyday.

Wag loved cooking his famous potato salad and baked beans for the Ross family reunions. He loved going fishing with his brother-in-law Harold.

Wag was a well respected truck driver who drove all over, he retired from trucking at the age of 77.

Wag was so loved by many people in his life, but especially by his wife Juanita, who he was married to for 43 years. Wag will be deeply missed, but the time we had with him is something that will forever be cherished.

He is survived by wife Juanita (Ross) Wagner, sister Kaye Johnson Jackson of Des Moines, Iowa. Brother Howard Wagner of Minneapolis, Minnesota, son Doyle Wagner, daughters Verlinda Ennem and Bobbie Yost.

He is proceded in death by both parents Christian and Violet Wagner, daughter Kim Godsell, 2 brothers Richard and Roger Wagner, step sons; James Calhoun and Kenny Calhoun.
