Billie, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 27, 2013. She was born on December 28, 1921 to Mignon Degrote and Almond Earl Bryan in Ventura, California. Throughout her life she remained a beautiful daughter of God. She was an only child. Her father passed away when she was eleven years old and was raised by her mother in Los Angeles, California.
She met Hugh Caldwell on a blind date, prior to him being assigned to active duty in WWII. Three months later they were married in Olympia, Washington on June 13, 1942 (they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple). Billie then moved to Vernal, Utah while Hugh served in the Army and lived with Hugh's parents and considered his large and loving family to be a huge blessing in her life.
Billie was a loving and supporting wife and mother. Family was her greatest accomplishment. She was so proud of each of her children and grandchildren. With the unconditional love that she had, she has had a major influence in their lives.
She was blessed with three children Kay (Kathryne Joyce) (Arvel) Tassainer, Raymond Bryan Caldwell, Ann (Jerry) Larsen.
Billie retired in 1978 from the State of Utah Department of Employment Security after 30+ years of service.
Billie was very talented in all that she did. Her greatest interests were cooking, sewing, oil painting, crocheting, but most of all spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She alway served willingly with an open heart in many different church callings.
Billie is survived by two daughters, Kay (Arvel) Tassainer and Ann (Jerry) Larsen; grandchildren, Brad (Deann) Tassainer, Bryan (Tina) Tassainer, Rachel (Jon) Murphy, Corey (Jennifer) Larsen, Lindsey (Jake) Irving, and Tyler (AdriAnne) Larsen; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Hugh Caldwell, son Raymond Bryan Caldwell, son-in-law Arvel Ray Tassainer, and granddaughter Jill Tassainer.
