William "Billy" G. Dargavel, age 79 passed away on Monday July 18, 2022 at his home. He was born to Ann Marie Gallagher and James S. "Scotty" Dargavel on July 26, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He joined the Navy and served in the submarine service before the Vietnam War. He volunteered for the Mobile Riverine Force during Vietnam. He was injured while serving and was honorably discharged from the Navy as a Decorated War Hero with 4 bronze stars, Purple Heart, Combat action Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal with combat "V", Navy Achievement Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation. He later moved to Telluride, Colorado in the 1980's, and later settled in Vernal, Utah. He was a successful Plumber, and loved the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter; Kara Whitkanack, sisters; Ann Cresswell, Patricia J. (Douglas) Alessandra, brother; Dennis M. (Rosemary) Dargavel. Many nieces and nephews. Close friend Mike Benson, Sheila Smith, and Charity Reynolds He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; James F. Dargavel, brother-in-law Robert Cresswell. A celebration of life for Billy will be held Saturday July 23, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Vernal Elks Lodge (35 North 300 West) with Military Honors from the American Legion Post 11. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
