William (Bart) Lewis, age 78, passed away on January 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and devotion. Born in Cedar City, Utah, Bart was a man of quiet integrity, defined by his steady presence, reliability, and deep love for his family.

Bart proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG). For his bravery and sacrifice during his service, he was awarded multiple Purple Hearts also the Combat Infantryman Badge . His military experience instilled in him a profound sense of duty and discipline-values that guided him throughout his life.

Following his honorable military service, Bart transitioned to a career in communications with the Bureau of Land Management. In this role, he supported field operations and public land stewardship, combining his technical skill with a lifelong respect for the natural world.

An avid outdoorsman, Bart found peace and fulfillment in nature. He was a man who valued craftsmanship and self-reliance, interests reflected in his hobbies of ham radio, hunting, fishing, and reloading ammunition. Whether in the field or at home, he was known for his patience and practical knowledge. While Bart was not a man of many words, his loyalty and generosity spoke for him.

Bart was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Julia Lewis; his son, Bart Lewis Jr.; his stepdaughter, DJ Hardinger; and his grandson, Max Maling.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dina Lewis; his children, Kelly Moncher, Naomi Kepler, Franklin Lewis, Woodrow Lewis, Tarlton (Wayne) Lewis, and Mario Lewis; and his stepchildren, Gene Fullmer, Irene Atkins, and John Fullmer. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Bart Lewis, age 78, of Vernal, husband of Dina Lewis, will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11:00AM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday morning from 9:45-10:45am at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11.
