Betty Elizabeth Powell Sheffer
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother returned to her heavenly home August 5, 2021 at the age of 86, surrounded by family.
She was born and raised in Vernal, Utah. She is the 7th of 8 children born to John and Ruth Powell. On June 3, 1953 she married Jack D Sheffer and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Betty held several positions within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Betty was a homemaker. She was devoted to her Husband and 4 children.
She took every opportunity to teach her children the gospel and her life was one of selfless service. She was very compassionate, never spoke ill of anyone. She will always be remembered for her great faith. She turned to the Lord in prayer with full confidence that those prayers were heard and answered.
Betty Elizabeth Powell Sheffer was preceded in death by her Parents John Powell and Ruth Olive (Gray) Powell and siblings Jack, Dorothy, Keith, Kelly, Mary, Bob, Alice. And a Granddaughter Anda Hutchings Bostock.
Betty is survived by her husband Jack D. Sheffer. Children: Marilynn (John) Sanderson, Scott (Joan) Sheffer, Mark (Toni) Sheffer, and Jean (Gil) Graser. Grandchildren: Michelle Beyer, Mikell Sanderson, Joie Madison, Shawn Sheffer, Lindsay Sheffer, Tori Sheffer, Devery Sheffer, Dylan Sheffer, Erin Wade, Tim Sholar, Jake Graser, Casey Graser. And 13 Great-Grandchildren.
She was a loving and supportive Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and was often called my "favorite" Aunt. We will miss her greatly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the Vernal 5th Ward Chapel (200 West 250 North). A viewing for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8p.m. at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Thursday 9:45-10:45a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
