Cailean Scott Harnden

Cailean Scott Harnden, age 28, of West Jordan and Vernal, Utah, the beloved son of J. Tod Harnden and Denise Espinoza, passed away October 30, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on January 18, 1993 in Vernal, Utah.

Cailean grew up in Vernal and attended local schools. He received his diploma in 2011 from Ashley Valley High School. He enjoyed camping and fishing and being out in nature. He loved our country and was very patriotic. He watched NFL games on TV, as long as the players respected the flag. He was a fan of the U of U football team. He had a heart of gold and the gift to recognize the needs of others. He was always there to help his family, friends, and strangers. He was the life of the party and always kept the crowd laughing.

He worked for Pat and Leland McNeil on their ranch, and for several years at the local McDonalds. At the time of his death, he was employed at Interwest Fire Protection Inc., located in Salt Lake City. The company is owned by his aunt Teri and her husband Jim McElreath. They were ideal bosses, providing leadership and knowledge and building self-confidence in Cailean. He worked there for four and a half years and earned skills certificates at each step, finally earning his journeyman pipe fitter license.

Cailean is survived by his father J. Tod Harnden and his mother Denise Harrison (Miah) Espinoza; his brother Conner Ryan and his sisters Cosette Marie and Camille Erin Harnden; half-brother Cadon Cartwright; step-sister Abigail Jo Jacobsen; step -brother Dalton Jeffery Skidmore; and nephew and niece Colton Lee and Isabella Dawn Horrocks; grandparents Evelyn Young Harmston, Bob and Janice Hunting, and Gary and Sandy Harrison; special aunts and uncles Teri and Jimmy McElreath, Troy Harmston, Kirt and Julie Harrison, Bert and Rebecca Harrison, and Sandra and Charles Brown; and many cousins. He also considered all of the guys at Interwest Fire Protection Inc. his family.

He was preceded in death by grandfather Colin Eugene Harmston.

Funeral Services for Cailean will be held Saturday November 13, 2021 at 12:00pm. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:45am ~ 11:45am all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West).
