Carol (Mcconkie) Betts

Our Mom, Carol McConkie Betts, was born March 11, 1932 in Tridell, Utah, and died January 28, 2024, in Maeser, Utah, at the age of 91. Mom was the middle child of 7. She loved roaming the hills of Tridell as a girl. She longed for a little sister and prayed every day for 2 years before her sister MaryAnn was born. Mom married our dad, Ernest Edward Betts, Jr, on August 16, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple. She became a mother a year later and her next great adventure began. She loved sewing for her children and spending time in the yard playing with them. Mom loved flowers. She worked tirelessly in her yard and her roses, gladiolus, and iris were some of the most beautiful around. She and Dad always had a large garden and she loved looking at the full canning jars in the root cellar each fall. She also loved a wonderful loaf of homemade bread. She was a sports fan and was willing to watch almost any sport. She fulfilled a lifelong dream when she attended a Denver Broncos game at Mile High Stadium. At 89, she attended Major League Baseball Spring Training and loved sitting at the fence cheering on her beloved Colorado Rockies. Mom had great faith and a testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. She served in many Church callings and always gave her best. Mom, we will miss you always and love you forever! Carol is survived by her 6 children, Carol Jean (Bryce) Barker, Joyce (David-Deceased) Truman, Edward (Wendy) Betts, Lynn (Karen) Betts, Phillip (Vicci) Betts and Aileen (Jim) Jensen and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services for Carol will be held Friday February 2, 2024 at 12Noon at the Ballard LDS Ward Chapel (2561 East Hwy 40). Visitation and viewing will be held that morning from 10:00am ~ 11:45am at the church. Interment in the Tridell Cemetery next to her beloved husband Ernest Edward Betts Jr., under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
