Charles Melvin Barker passed away peacefully of Cardiac Arrest on May 21, 2021 with his wife and family at his side.
He was born April 15, 1942 in Upalco, Utah to Calvin and Thelma Mathews Barker.
Charles never met a stranger and had a personality bigger than life. He loved to tease and had the very best bear hugs. Chuck loved to dance and he and mom danced a million miles.
He grew up with his siblings on the family farm in Bridgeland, Utah. He graduated from Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah. After high school he moved to Orange County, California, where he worked for Astra Data, building computers. He moved to Las Vegas working for Pepsi Colo Co. for seven and a half years, moved to Vernal, Utah where he worked for Nowsco Oilfield Services for seven years.
Together Chuck and Rita had many businesses. They purchased Barkers Mailbox Express in 2004, retiring to Washington, Utah for the last nine years, due to health reasons.
Chuck is preceded in death by his mother and father and siblings: Beulah Key, Mearle Sullivan, Lee Barker, Harold Barker, Dale Barker, Joyce Peterson, Bennie Barker, Mary Syndergaard, and Karen Osborne.
He is survived by his eternal wife, Rita Barker of 44 years, children: Kim Barker (Shauna), Kelly Barker (Dee Dee), Anna Marie Lovelady (Gar), Rob Gray (Chriss), Steve Gray (Char), Jayecee Turpin (Randy); sister Ruth Ann Sather (Bob), and brother Prenpis Barker. combined family has 67 grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews who each thought they were his favorite. He was loved by so many.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 1:00p.m. at the Maeser 7th Ward LDS Chapel (2745 West 1000 North). A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday 11:00a.m.-12:45a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
