Coleen (Collett) Hancock Cunningham passed from this life to the next on March 4th, 2023. She was born of goodly parents Howard S. Collett and Fern Walkup Collett on May 28th, 1930, in Vernal, Utah.
Coleen lived in Utah, California, New Mexico, Tennessee, Kansas, Colorado, and Arizona, where she graduated from Mesa High in 1954. She met and married Francis Gerald (Jerry) Hancock on June 24th,1954, in the Mesa, AZ, LDS Temple. She was a faithful military wife and followed Jerry all over the globe, including Germany. Together they raised five children. Jerry passed away in 1986, leaving her a widow. Later, she met and married Marvin Charles (Chuck) Cunningham in Vernal, UT, in May 2000. Together they served a mission in Nashville, TN, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Coleen loved scouting. She was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America for 50 years. She was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for exceptional character and service in 1983. She loved to teach and serve others. She was a great hostess and loved having people around her. She worked many jobs, but the one she loved the most was the 15 years she was the office manager for Dr. Randy Labrum.
Coleen is survived by her children, Colette (Mark) Kremin and Lance (Becky) Hancock, stepdaughter Patti (Ron) Russo, daughters-in-law Dawn Hancock, and Lillian Hancock, her siblings Floyd (Joan) Collett, and Judy (Bud) Shelton, as well as 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Jerry Hancock and Chuck Cunningham, sons Michael, Scott, and Kirk Hancock, stepson Alex Ernst, parents, Howard and Fern Collett, in-laws Ernest and Ethel Hancock, brother Jack, and sister Rose Collett.
Funeral services for Coleen will be held Saturday March 11, 2023 at 10:00am at the Glines LDS HWY Chapel (1499 West Highway 40). Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday from 6pm-8pm at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home, and Saturday from 8:45am ~ 9:45am at the church. Interment in the Lapoint Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
