Dawn Hilton Porter passed away on December 23, 2021 at the age of 95. Dawn was born on July 26, 1926 at dawn in Delta Utah, the third daughter of Vera Snow and Wilford B Hilton.
Dawn married Rodney Porter on September 15, 1949 in the Manti, Utah temple. They had 5 children. She enjoyed listening to beautiful music, quilting, canning, reading; especially the scriptures and spent many hours studying about the gospel, along with family history work, serving in the temple, and helping and caring about her family and others. She was generous with her time, her home, her talents, and her resources.
She grew up in Delta, Utah, one of seven children. She met her future husband Rodney in junior high. She graduated from BYU in Home Economics. She used those skills to smoothly run her home, life and family. She was a very capable and organized woman who loved to keep busy. She spent many hours gardening and then canning the harvest. She also loved to tie and hand quilt. They enjoyed 47 years of happy marriage until Rod passed away in 1994. They were unified in their parenting and their children could not get away with any nonsense. They enjoyed traveling and saw much of the United States. They taught their children service to others, how to work hard, self reliance, thrift, and a deep reverence for our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Dawn lived simply and found joy in simple things. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed and grew from the many callings she held in her life. Rod and Dawn served 2 temple missions together. Then she served another mission alone after Rod's death. Dawn will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children: Nyla (Garold) Luck, Gwen, Scott (Cynthia), Kris (Bud) Perry, Jill (Jeff) Slaugh, sister Lael (Merton) Lovell, brother Bruce Hilton, brother-in-law Ken (JuVene) Porter, sister-in-law Colleen (Gill) Hilton, 23 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husband: Rodney Porter, parents: Vera and Wilford, siblings: Lora (Ray) Whiting, Carol (Pete) Prusee, Clesse (Becky) Hilton, Gill Hilton, granddaughter Shelly Slaugh, and great grandson Dayson Luck.
