Dorothy Eileen Denison (Wilson), born on November 2, 1942, was the sixth of seven children, raised amidst the rustic charm of a farm in Cimarron, Colorado, her family's cherished homestead. Dorothy joins in eternity her parents, siblings, the love of her life, and one grandson.
Dorothy had a love for animals, particularly horses and sheep, with her beloved horse, Socks, becoming her trusted companion in barrel racing, earning her a trophy in her teenage years. Engaging in 4-H activities, she showcased her passion for sheep, even nurturing orphaned lambs with tender care.
Alongside her high school sweetheart, whom she met on a blind date, Dorothy worked diligently, instilling her strong work ethic in her four daughters. Though they may not match her energy in irrigating 160 acres at age 80, her legacy of hard work endures. An avid gardener, her bountiful garden and vibrant flowers attracted envy from all who visited, as she generously shared her harvest with others.
Fishing held a special place in her heart, despite its rarity in her routine. Once, in a memorable encounter, her fishing bag was snatched by a curious bear. Her adventurous spirit extended to coyote hunting, where she wielded her trusty old green scout, demonstrating her sharpshooting skills while shuttling her daughters to the bus stop.
Dorothy had a talent for cooking, especially for her homemade bread, which was a beloved treat for her grandchildren, who still miss its flavor today. She could also make delicious things like wheat candy and mint. She loved hearing her daughters play the piano and sing in harmony.
Dorothy's life revolved around service and dedication. Actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she embarked on a mission with her late husband in Texas and dedicated years as a temple worker. Her legacy of love, labor, and devotion continues to inspire all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her Four Daughters, Sharon, Janice, Ada, and Lydia along with her 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
