Doug Ross Obituary
Melvin Douglas Ross passed away April 23, 2020 at the age of 58 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.
Melvin Douglas Ross was born February 11, 1962 in Vernal, Utah to Carl Tony Ross and Beverly (Dillon) Ross.
Doug grew up in Vernal, spending much of his childhood hunting and fishing with his closest friends and cousins. He started working on a drilling rig with his father during summer breaks in high school and for many years after. After the oil bust in the 80s, he moved to Washington for a short time before returning back to Utah to venture into starting his own business. It was during this time that he met his wife to be Ruth Fetchin. They married on September 5, 1986. Doug eventually found his niche in auto body work and started an auto body business, The Paint Doctor, which he ran for 20 years. He later went back to the oilfield, working as a Tool Pusher on a drilling rig for 6 years. Doug left the oilfield to care for his ailing brother, and transitioned into car sales, purchasing Uintah Auto Sales. Dougs passion and hard work ethic was unprecedented.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his many family and friends. Often sharing entertaining stories that never disappointed. He had his way of spreading joy and laughter with his intricate story telling methods. Two of his biggest passions in life were hunting and fishing. It was a struggle for the average fisherman to catch anything if Doug was fishing the same waters. He also had a passion for basketball and was an avid Utah Jazz fan. It was a very rare occasion for him to miss a game. He also enjoyed watching westerns.
Doug is survived by his wife, Ruth Fetchin Ross of Vernal, his two children: Derek Ross of Loveland, CO and Laura Ross of Salt Lake City, UT, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, an uncle, and two aunts..
