Our beloved Douglas Lee Schmidt, unexpectedly passed away on January 18, 2023, while working to support his family. He was born to Joseph and Naomi Grace Parker Schmidt on March 20, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Doug served his mission in Seville, Spain from 1980 to 1982. He married and moved to San Diego, California where he worked as a computer engineer and raised their three kids, Ashley, Aaron, and Jason. After his previous marriage, he moved to Vietnam and became an English teacher for a few years and returned to the United States.
Doug moved to Vernal, Utah, and worked for an oil and gas company. He found love again and married his Filipina wife in 2012 in the Philippines. Together they have two boys ages 7 and 5. They were sealed as a family in the Bountiful Temple last month.
Doug was the most patient, laid-back, and kindest person you would ever meet. He loved nature, fishing, flying his drone, and enjoyed working on computers and electronics. He also enjoyed baking, cooking, and making wheat pancakes for his little boys. He was loved and adored by his family so much and will be forever missed.
