Eula Reall Obituary

Eula Hatch ReallDecember 23, 1922 ~ April 7, 2019Eula Hatch Reall was born in 1922 in Vernal, Utah. After her school days she left Vernal to attend Brigham Young University. Later while working in the state capitol she met George Reall and began a relationship that would see 60 years of marriage. Following a move to New York City, Eula took an administrative position in the civil engineering department at Columbia University where she had the opportunity to work alongside many accomplished engineering professionals and leading professors. In 1960 Eula left the working world to raise a family and began a part of her life that would truly define her for the next 50 years. In addition to raising a son she started to volunteer her time to many organizations. Whether it was the local hospital, Womens Club, a township group, the board of elections or the police department when support and a time commitment was needed Eula took the lead. A stint on the planning and zoning commission in Franklin Lakes was also on the list and she certainly stirred the pot there on occasion as a no-nonsense participant. The list of activities and charities she supported is too long to list but from the early 1960s the town of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, Bergen County and the state of New Jersey were all beneficiaries of her tireless efforts. At the state level of the New Jersey State Federation of Womens Clubs she held committee chairmanships from 1976 through 1985. The culmination of these accomplishments was her being awarded the Cecilia Gaines Holland Award in 1986 which is the highest award given by the Federation. Following this Eula and George retired to Sedona, Arizona and prior to her leaving, the New Jersey State Assembly issued a proclamation in her honor for her years of service to the state in a host of capacities including political and civic ones. Rare it is for such an honor to be bestowed on a pure volunteer. A key to the city and other awards also marked her departure. Eula was not finished however and while George had indeed retired, she took Sedona, Arizona by storm. She continued her volunteer work at the election board, the town hall, the police department and countless other organizations. She chaired the Arizona Womens Republican Club and even held an elected position for a time in Coconino County. Everywhere she went people knew who she was and acknowledged her contributions. More awards, a key to the city and plaques followed. In 2009 Eula and George moved to Castle Rock, CO to be closer to their children, grandchildren and later a great grandson. George passed away in 2012 and on April 7, 2019 Eula re-joined her husband of 60 + years. She will be fondly remembered by all and is survived her son Gus, his wife Dawn, two grandchildren Josh and Brandon and great grandson Cassius George son of Josh and Sarah Reall. There will be no services as this was Eulas wish. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) through the Oak Creek Chapter attention: Joan Kennedy Treasurer - Oak Creek Chapter, NSDAR 15 Pebble Drive Sedona, AZ 86351
