Gearldine "Geri" Torgerson Trujillo, age 74, passed away peacefully of natural causes in her home on November 14, 2021.
Geri was born to Rulon and Mable Torgerson on June 12, 1947 in Salina, Utah. She was the 4th of 5 children. She was raised in Koosherem, Utah and graduated from Piute High School.
After high school, Geri moved to Salt Lake and attended LDS Business College, where she graduated with her Associate Degree. She enjoyed working as a secretary, starting with Teamsters after college. After moving to Vernal, she worked at Service Insurance Agency for almost 20 years. She also worked for David Morton Electric, and then for Ponderosa Oil Field Services for 20 years until she retired in 2017.
Geri married Paul, the love of her life in Salt Lake City on May 16, 1975. Their daughter Heather was born in 1978, and son Lance in 1980. Soon after they moved to Vernal, Utah where she stayed for the remainder of her life.
Geri loved to be with Paul and the kids, whether they were hunting, fishing, camping, or bowling, they just enjoyed being together. In 1993 Paul and Lance passed away tragically but Geri remained strong and faithful always. She has looked forward to the day when she would be with them again.
Geri was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved the children in her ward, serving in the temple, and being a visiting teacher. She always enjoyed lunch dates with friends and family, and surprising people with loaves of bread. Always the supporter and complimentary of others, she was usually found behind the scenes helping others. Geri was the kindest of women, yet she knew what she wanted and knew how to stand her ground.
Geri found her calling in life through the lives of her grandchildren. She was the best grandmas and supported them in every way. She lived to babysit and shower then with gifts. She loved sleepovers and Slurpee runs. She kissed scraped knees and mended broken hearts. Her loss will be felt most in the grandkids she nurtured.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her son Lance, her parents Rulon and Mable Torgerson, and mother and father-in-law, Ross and Evelyn Trujillo.
She is survived by her daughter Heather Eskelson (Michael), four grandchildren, Evie, Elena, Peyton, and Lance, siblings Richard Torgerson (Clayone), Maxine Hall (Coombs), Barbara Sorenson (Mack), and Fred Torgerson (Kathe), sisters-in-law Christine Vigil (Celso), Erminda Quintana (Les), Margaret Lopez (Art), Annette Medina (Conrad), and brothers-in-law Billy Trujillo and Mario Trujillo.
Funeral services for Geri will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Glines 1st Ward LDS Chapel (1499 West Highway 40). A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 6-8p.m. at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. No visitation will be held Friday morning.
