Helen Elaine Rose Cooley, 84, died peacefully September 26, 2019, in Vernal Utah.
She was born January 13, 1935, in Florence, Arizona the daughter of Marie Awrey Rose and Robert Harold Rose.
Helens father worked for the US. Park Service, so the family moved frequently among the most beautiful places in the West. She attended Wasatch Academy boarding school and later graduated from Mancos high school near Mesa Verde National Park.
Helen met her future husband Max Cooley in 1954 while attending Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles. They were married that November at her parents home in Sequoia Kings National Park.
They settled in Maxs home town of Moab, Utah, where they raised five children. Max worked in the mining industry and Helen was a telephone operator.
Helen was preceded in death by her son Robert and sister Marilyn Rose. She is survived by her daughters Catherine (Roger Bullock) and Janice (Kevin Dickson), and her sons, Charles (Marilyn) and James (Karen). She will be greatly missed by her 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who were the light of her life.
The family will have a remembrance service on Saturday October 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Remember The Maine Park in Vernal, Utah for both Helen and Max her late husband of 64 years, who passed December 1, 2018.
