Our loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and hero died May 4th, 2022 at the age of 89.
Jack Andrew Seitz was born on December 25, 1932 to Andrew Nordfors Seitz and Delilah Leavitt in St. George Utah.
Dad attended school in a two-room schoolhouse from first to sixth grade. He attended junior high four years and high school two years at Dixie High. He attended college for 2 years at Dixie State where he received his associates degree. Dixie High School and Dixie State College were in the same building. It was there he met his sweetheart, Mildred.
As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, he served in numerous positions: Bishop, Stake President, Stake Patriarch. He served as Temple Sealer over 24 years in the Vernal and Washington DC Temples, where he served a mission with mom. He is an example of Jesus Christ's love and compassion for all.
He married Mildred Wright on July 12, 1952 in the St. George Utah Temple. He attended the University of Utah, LA College of Optometry and graduated in June 1959. He worked night shifts to put himself through optometry school at Firestone Tire and Rubber and as a police officer for LA county. He started his professional career with Daynes Optical in American Fork, then in Vernal. He bought the practice, changing the name to Seitz Optical.
Dad's entire life was spent giving service to his family, his church, his community and state. He participated in many clubs, boards and was in the State Legislature for 10 years where he was active in bringing mineral lease monies back to Vernal.
Dad is survived by his wife Mildred of almost 70 years, and his 5 children Jacque (DeArmon) Batty, Sheldon (Syd) Seitz, Cathy (Tod) Tesar, Gordon (Jill) Seitz, Neldon (Dawna) Seitz. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to make a total of 111 in posterity.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter and 1 great great grandson.
We are missing a big piece of our hearts but until we meet again dad, We Love You.
