Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. Jackie was a perfect example of how to dance through the storms of life.
Our sweet Jackie Anderton Southam passed away on April 20th, 2022 at the age of 69. Jackie was born on April 11th, 1953 to Velda Hoopes Anderton and Eldon F Anderton in Roosevelt, Utah.
After knowing the love of her life for only 7 days, she was engaged, and then she married Clifton J. Southam on June 1st, 1974 in the Provo Utah Temple. Jackie and Clifton filled their home with 7 children in 8 years. They were her biggest headaches and her greatest joys.
Jackie loved quilting with the Cluckers, making crafts, and serving others. She loved spending time with her sweetheart riding the side by side or square dancing. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time with her friends while exercising. She had a passion for doing hair. She completed Cosmetology School in 1972 and did hair for 40-plus years. During which she made a lot of lifelong friends. One of Jackie's best talents was mothering her father.
She is survived by her husband, Clifton J. Southam, father, Eldon F Anderton her children, Matthew & Elisebeth Southam, Mikki & Brent Jolley, Misti & Chad Hall, Melissa & Devin Bunker, Michelle & Jared Thompson, Marilee & Doug Vance, Markel Southam, 30 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her mother Velda Anderton, Niles & Frances Southam, Sister-in-Law Paris Anderton, Brother-in-Laws Glade Southam, Clifford Richards, Dave Thorne, and her precious poodle Griz.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Ashley 1st Ward LDS Chapel (3040 North Vernal Avenue). A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Tuesday 9:00AM-10:30AM at the church. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
