James Michael Holmes, age 28, passed away April 6, 2022, in Bali, Indonesia. He was born in Vernal, Utah, on October 13, 1993, to Mark and Kay Lynn (Caldwell) Holmes. He was the 4th of 5 children. James graduated from Uintah High School in 2012. He was awarded Outstanding Business Department Student of the Year for his exceptional performance. James took all but two of the business classes offered and passed the Utah State Competency test in all classes. He completed several Business Career Pathways. James was an active member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). His senior year, he served as an officer. James attended FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, as a member of the Community Service Project team. He competed in Mr. Uintah his senior year, which he loved because he was always a show-off and enjoyed the spotlight. He took Wild Card in his weight class. In 2015, James moved to Indonesia where he worked tutoring Indonesian youth so they could score high on entrance exams and go to college in the United States. James was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Philippines and was an Eagle Scout. James was always a happy person. He was friendly towards everybody and thought he was everybody's friend. He was a compassionate, caring, loving person. Upon learning of his death, many people have told us how he helped them through difficult moments in their lives. James will truly be missed. James was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Keith Caldwell and Duane (Duke) Holmes. He is survived by his father, Mark Holmes; mother, Kay Lynn Holmes; siblings, Timothy Holmes (Heather), Rachel Morris (Travis), Jason Holmes (Tasha), and Andrew Holmes (Leah); nieces and nephews, Audrey Holmes, Caleb Holmes, Parker Morris, Annie Holmes, Hannah Holmes, Trayson Morris, Megan Holmes, Kelsie Holmes, and Walter Morris; grandmothers, Lila Caldwell and Gaila Holmes; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Glines Stake Center, 78 Aggie Blvd. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Ashley Valley Funeral Home, and Saturday, May 14, from 9:45 - 10:45 AM at the Glines Stake Center. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
