Kevin Manwaring Obituary

Kevin Kay Manwaring returned to his Heavenly Father on March 9, 2024, surrounded by his devoted wife and children at Provo Hospital after bravely battling his heart condition.

He was born to Rea and Verdon Manwaring on August 7, 1954, in Vernal, Utah, Kevin was the eldest among seven siblings. He embarked on his journey after graduating from Uintah High School in 1972, initially joining his Uncle Bud Pease as a pipeliner. Throughout his
dynamic career, Kevin explored various trades, including stone masonry, heavy equipment operation, welding, and NDT inspection, eventually funding his own inspection company fueled by his innovative spirit. Outside of work, he found solace and joy in woodworking, welding, and carving.

Kevin remained steadfast in his faith as a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, sharing his life with his high school sweetheart, Loye Ann Mecham, whom he married on August 5, 1973, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised six children in Vernal, Utah.

In 1979, Kevin and his Uncle Willis Southam co-founded Magna Sonic Stress Testers, marking the beginning of his impactful entrepreneurial journey. After 20 years of sole ownership, he relocated his family to Rock Springs, Wyoming, where he oversaw the Rocky Mountain Division under Tubascope for five years. Never one to remain idle, Kevin resurrected Magna Sonic upon returning to Vernal, Utah, partnering with his son Dillon for another successful 11 years.

Following the loss of Loye Ann in 2014, Kevin found renewed love and companionship in life with his high school friend Cleo Mortensen, marrying her on May 7, 2016. Together, they Spent the next eight years traveling around the world, welcoming 10 additional grandchildren to the already 15 and two great-grandchildren into their loving family.

Kevin is survived by his adoring wife Cleo, his children Chauntue (Rhett) Peterson, Danielle Manwaring, Amanda (Judd) Ferguson, Dillon (Heather) Manwaring, Keaton (Alyssa) Manwaring, Nichelle (Ryan) Porter, Michelle (Justun) Johnson, and Amber (Gary) Lee, along with 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
