Kirk Hancock Obituary

Kirk Gerald Hancock passed away on January 17, 2019 at the age of 59 with his family around him. He was born in Chandler, Arizona at Williams Air force Base on February 28th 1959 to Jerry Hancock and Coleen C. Hancock.

He loved to golf, fish, hunt and camp. He was a good athlete in high school and excelled in basketball and baseball. He attended Farmington High School in New Mexico and graduated from Uintah High in Vernal, Utah.

After he graduated high school he joined the Navy and became an Air Traffic Controller for 6 years. He traveled the world and enjoyed learning about other cultures. After his military career he became a superintendent of a small construction company in Portland, Oregon.

When he wasnt working he had many hobbies that he enjoyed. He knew a lot about plants and particularly loved orchids and bonsai trees. He was an avid gardener and worked hard to maintain his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed tending to his aquarium and raising fish, a hobby he had for most of his life. He was also a backyard mechanic and loved his yellow Ford truck.

Kirk married Leigh-Ann Smith and together they had two children, Kaylah C. and Cody K. in Portland, Oregon. Kirk enjoyed sharing his interests with his children, taking them on fishing and hiking trips and teaching them how to golf. He loved his children and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Kirk is survived by his children, Kaylah (Portland, OR) Cody (Vernal, UT), Mother Coleen and step-father, Chuck Cunningham, Vernal, Sisters Patti (Ron Russo) of Grass Valley, CA, Colette (Mark) Kremin, Brother Lance (Becky) Hancock, all of Vernal. Sisters-in-law, Dawn Hancock of New Mexico and Lillian Hancock of Vernal. And many Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Jerry Hancock, brothers Michael, Scott Hancock and Alex Ernst. Grandparents, Howard and Fern Collett and Ernest and Ethel Hancock.

He loved his children more then he could ever express. He didnt have children until in his mid-thirties. Was thrilled when he had a girl and a boy. They lived and Portland Oregon.

Funeral services will be held at Ashley Valley Funeral Home at 1 pm Saturday the 19th. Interment will be at the Lapoint Cemetery.Memorial Service Sat, Jan 19, 2019 at 1:00 pmVernal Memorial Park
