Larry Jay Bigelow passed away at his home on June 24, 2021 surrounded by his wife and children at age 84. He was born September 4, 1936 to Charles and Vonda Bigelow.
Larry grew up on a farm in LaPoint, Utah.
He married is high school sweetheart, Rosemary Daniels on September 5, 1956. They were later sealed in Salt Lake City Temple on March 6, 1964.
Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force and spoke fondly of the memories he had serving his country.
For 42 years, Larry worked for Moon Lake Electric and was able to enjoy 21 years of retirement before passing.
Larry enjoyed being outdoors. In his younger years, Larry would go hunting with family, friends, co-workers, and his cousin, Arvin Harrison.
There were also yearly trips with family traveling to Bonanza to cut Pinyon pine.
Larry was an avid trap shooter and he also enjoyed bowling. He won many awards and trophies in both sports.
Larry's favorite pastime was catching up on local news while drinking coffee with his many coffee buddies in Vernal, Roosevelt and across the Uintah Basin.
One of Larry's joys came from producing a beautiful garden. He labored in gardening for over 50 years and family, friends and neighbors benefited from his green thumb.
Over the years, Larry had many cats. Cats were his favorite animal and he loved them all and took great care of them.
Larry is proceeded in death by his parents; Charlies and Vonda Bigelow-Batty, his siblings; Lorna Anderson, Kenneth Bigelow, Joyce Long and Nyle Bigelow, and grandchild, Brittney McLean.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; Rosemary Bigelow, his children; Julie (Terel) Merkley, Kent J. Bigelow, Diane (Jeff) McLean and Lynn (Donica) Bigelow, 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Funeral service for Larry will be held Wednesday June 30, 2021 at 11:00am. A visitation will be held from 9:30am - 10:45am. All at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West, Vernal). Interment in Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11.
