Mary Smuin Obituary

Mary Murray Smuin unexpectedly passed away on November 16, 2021. Mary left this world at the early age of 67. She was born on October 1, 1954, to Lyle Glenn (Penny) and Marinda (Rin) Murray in Vernal, Utah. She was the youngest of 10 children. Mary married Levi J. Smuin on July 11, 1970. Together they have four children, Lisa Migiori, Sherry Jessen, Levi D. Smuin, and Amy Leishman.

Mary was a public servant who worked for the USDA Farm Service Agency for over 30 years. During her career she met many people and made many friends. Prior to her retirement in 2019, she traveled as an auditor for the Washington Office. This program took her around the United States, visiting farms, orchards and ranches. Mary also traveled to Puerto Rico for disaster relief after hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Mary's number one priority in life was her family. She was a selfless caretaker to all. No matter who needed her, from her parents to her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors, she was always there to help. Mary enjoyed camping, kayaking, working in her yard, planting and taking care of the garden. Mary was an athlete, in her younger years she played softball and volleyball. She was an avid golfer and golf fan. Mary and Levi followed Levi and Amy from tournament to tournament. Mary was active in women's golf for the past 20 years and leaves behind many golf buddies, including the "Taco Tuesday" bunch. She especially liked watching all her favorite golf tournaments on TV. Mary and Levi loved following their children and grandchildren around the state as they participated in their sporting and other curricular activities.

Mary is survived by her husband Levi, children: Lisa (Kris) Migliori, Sherry (Robert) Jessen, Levi D. (Dawn) Smuin, and Amy (Dave) Leishman. Grandchildren: Nicholas (Allison) Migliori, Zachery (Harley) Hatch, Brooker (Colton) King, Rachel (Hadley) Myers, Kailsy (Dallas) McDavid, Kailee Smuin, Regan (Corbin Lough) Hatch, Lindsay Migliori, Dane Leishman, Wyatt Winkler, Erin Migliori, Aden Smuin, Gage Jessen, Peyton Hacking, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her sisters, Deanna (Kent) McCurdy, Saralyn (Rick) Rogers, and Marinda (Mac) Ross.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle Glenn (Penny) and Marinda (Rin) Hall Murray, her siblings, Meriel Peterson, Joe Murray, Bob Murray, Bill Murray, Betty Ann Murray, and David Murray.

Mary; Wife, Mother, Grand-Mother, Sister, Aunt, and friend, will be missed by all who knew her, she leaves behind a void that cannot be filled. We will cherish all the happy memories and patiently await the glorious day when we shall meet again.
