Maxine Morrill Obituary

Maxine Morrill was born November 11, 1931 in Lapoint, Utah to McCoy Nyberg and Fern Warburton in her maternal grandparents farm home. As soon as she was old enough, she spent all her time on the farm helping her father. As she grew up she could mow hay and do all farm chores with a team of horses. After WWII her Dad purchased a Farmall tractor and she operated it in place of the horses. Her Dad always said she could do anything a boy could.

She spent her free time with her saddle horse, Merrylegs and her dog Tip.

She attended school in Lapoint, Utah in a big four room schoolhouse with 2 grades in each room. She often rode her horse to school. She graduated from Alterra High School in 1950.

She loved to attend all school activities and country dances. She was friendly and fun to be with and had a lot of friends.

Maxine met Clinton Morrill at Alterra High School and they married on February 15, 1950 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple.

Maxine was very accomplished at quilting, crocheting, and any type of needlework. She loved to make things out of wood for home and holiday decorations. She loved to oil paint and completed many desert and mountain scenes which are hanging in her home.

Maxine always said the world was not going to leave her behind. Any new technology that came along was a challenge to her. Probably one of her main accomplishments was learning to use computers. She was self-taught. She would read the instructions and apply them to her needs. She completely wore out 6 desktop computers and several laptops. She was very good at family history and record keeping.

She was very active in church working with adults and youth groups. She had a great ability to work with and understand teenagers and has had a big influence on many lives.

Her biggest concern was always for her family. She would do anything to keep a happy home for everyone.

She had a laugh that would be her identity throughout her life. Her kids always said if they ever lost her in a store all they had to do was stand still, listen and wait to hear her laughter.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, son Bill Morrill and daughter Gwen Morrill. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Clinton Morrill, daughter Kathy Higgins and son-in-law Kent Higgins, son Edwin W. Morrill and daughter-in-law Kim Morrill, daughter-in-law Joni Morrill and 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
