Nancy Ellen Pierce Searle passed away in her home in Vernal, Utah, surrounded by her loving family on March 9, 2021.

Born August 25, 1946 to Mary and Arthur Pierce in El Paso, Texas, she was the second of seven children.

Nancy met her eternal companion and the love of her life at BYU. She married Paul Milton Searle on May 25, 1967 in the Salt Lake City temple. Through the last years of her illness, her family was deeply touched to witness the love they shared as a couple. Watching her face light up whenever Paul came into the room reminded us of the eternal love and devotion in marriage that we all aspire to.

Nancy Ellen had a deep love of reading, and there was always a book within arm's reach! Many an evening was spent with family enjoying yummy treats together as she shared her passion for old movies. She was an imaginative cake decorator, and some of her most memorable cakes were large edible temple replicas she created for her children's weddings. She was a master chef; her children fondly remember coming home from school to the smell of freshly baked bread. Nancy loved Christmas! Poinsettias, Silver Bells, nativities, and her famous Christmas village complete with a mountain and skiers. Nancy would start the magnificent transformation of their home in October, having it ready, in combination with Paul's enchanting outdoor decorations, for the big reveal each Thanksgiving weekend.

Nancy volunteered in her children's school classes throughout the years. She was a trained and tireless advocate for children with learning disabilities, and she relished the many opportunities to serve in her community. Nancy served in her church in various roles around the world through the years. When the family lived in Germany, she was able to serve in the Stake Primary Presidency. Later in life, Nancy was honored to serve a mission with Paul in Colorado Springs, where they worked with combat veterans and their families. They also worked closely with the Colorado Springs Red Cross.

In all she did, her devotion was constantly focused on the Lord and her family. She worked tirelessly to teach gospel principles to her children and grandchildren. She used all her hobbies, talents, time, and her voice to share her love of the Savior and the Atonement. Her idea of family extended to so many more people than just her own family circle. She was a hard worker, loyal to a fault, and a peacemaker. No one was a stranger to her, and she firmly believed there was always room for one more at the table. Her family is eternally grateful for every moment we were given to learn from her Christ-like example and associate with her.

Nancy is survived by her adoring husband Paul; siblings Mary Lee Parkes (Mel), Sabra Young (Bob), AC Pierce, Lourena Phillips (Thomas), and Arwella Curtis (Cory); her children Dorey Duncan (Terry), Carl Searle (Jessica), Airaminta Valentine (Brett), David Searle (Nachole), Benjamin Searle, and Sean Searle (Vicki); and 42 grandchildren along with 3.5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mary Pierce, and her sister Gloria Pierce.

Because of Nancy's immeasurable influence for good, we firmly believe of her:

"And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say unto me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father" (Enos 1:27).
