Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She passed in the early morning hours of August 7, 2022. Nera was born on February 21 , 1928 in "Powellville" Vernal, Utah . She was the second of six children born to William Swinford Powell and Iva Ernel Adam's.
Nera is preceded in death by her parents William and Iva, her husband Miles, her siblings: Bill Powell, Steve Powell, Gay Trello, Sarah Layne Hooper, grandchildren: Cammie Rae Batty, Joshua Robert Graham, David Cole Batty; great grandson Ashton Louis Franks and daughter-in-law Tammie Carr Batty.
Nera is survived by her sister Rhama Powell, daughters: LeeAnne (Pete) Richardson, Ellen (Lloyd) Lemon, sons: Bill (Joella ) Batty and Randy Batty; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Nera married her high school sweetheart Miles Batty on August 24,1946. They were later sealed for all time and eternity in the Manti temple on September 1, 1962.
Nera lived a beautiful life full of travel with her friends and family. She enjoyed family gatherings at her beautiful home Miles built for her, and at their cabin on Diamond Mountain.
Nera held many positions in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, including young women president.
She was a prankster at heart and delighted in making others laugh. She never met a stranger she didn't engage in conversation and leave them with one of her hugs.
She was adept at sewing and needlepoint crafts and not only taught her daughters and granddaughters how to crochet, knit and do embroidery, she made dozens upon dozens of Baby blankets and afghans for all of her grandchildren.
Nera took pride in being a homemaker. She perfected her gifts and talents of keeping a beautiful home, cabin and yard. She was an impeccable host and intuitively knew how to make everyone feel safe, loved, comfortable and at ease around her.
Her grandchildren all remember that when they left her home, she would give them a big hug and kiss, wave goodbye and say "see you in the funnies!".
Nera's family would like to express gratitude to all those who have been a part of her life. An enormous Thank you to Beehive Homes, Good Shepherd Hospice and Ashley 1st Ward .
We will miss our sweet, funny, effervescent, beautiful, generous, forgiving, and kind mother and grandmother more than words can express. Our sadness takes reprieve and relief in the knowledge that she is dancing with her sweetheart once again.
We love you beyond measure - we will see you in the funnies.
