Palmer Knowlden Obituary

Palmer Boyce Knowlden
"Gramps"

On Thursday, May 18th, 2023, with loved ones at his bedside and hand in hand with his Grandson, Palmer Boyce Knowlden "Gramps", age 85, returned to the arms of his loving, merciful Lord and Savior.

Palmer was born to Dorothy Irene Palmer Knowlden, and Leonard Boyce Knowlden on April 5th, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Palmer married Cheryl Rustie Holmberg in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 25th, 1961.

He graduated from Granite High School and joined the United States Navy. For the majority of his life he worked in construction, and as building inspector for the State of Utah. Later he attended and graduated from USU and earned a degree in Sociology and Psychology. For five years he was employed by the Uintah County School District working with Native American children at West Jr High School, and Todd Elementary; now known as Eagleview.

Palmer was an exceptional artist, not only with oil, but watercolor and ink as well. During his retirement years he, along with his son, Shane, built a beautiful art Studio for him to paint in.

He loved fast things and everything outdoors including boating, camping, hunting, fishing, water skiing, and rafting. He learned to snow ski at a very young age and even did some ski jumping. Palmer's Dad instilled a love for flying in him and he was very proud to have passed that love onto his Grandson as well. He worked with his dad building and testing speed boats, and loved the need for speed.

He loved all animals, but he especially loved birds of all shapes and sizes. He was grateful to spend his last days at his home, in his own bed watching them through his picture window. His family would like to extend a very special Thank you to Canyon Hospice for making that possible for him. The care and compassion that they provided to him and our family in his last days will forever be remembered and appreciated.

Palmer is survived by his beautiful wife Cheryl Rustie Knowlden, their three children Shane Palmer, Shauna Dee, and Shawn Alan Knowlden, Grandchildren Jared Shane (Jackie) Foster, ShayLynn Hull, Sierra Cecil Knowlden, Isaac Paul Vance, and Kayla Marie Vance, Great - Grandchildren Bianca Michael Foster, Adalyn Lilian Foster, Anthony Tyeson Davis, Jackson Tyerel Davis, KateLynn Josey Davis, and Kloyee JoDean Davis, Great Great Granddaughter Olivia Mae McAlexander, and baby McAlexander #2 (in Utero).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Irene Palmer Knowlden and Leonard Boyce Knowlden, as well as his brothers Rodney and Alan Knowlden.
