Rebecca Allred Obituary

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, April 22, 2024.

She was born in Aurora, Colorado on a Sunday morning, January 22, 1956, at the Fitzsimons Army Hospital. She was the second of eight children born to LeGrande and Marva Genevieve Stevens Allen.

When she was seven months old, the family moved to Morgan, Utah, where LeGrande began teaching Seminary at the high school. They lived there a year, then moved to Utah County for his additional schooling. Beckie was a beautiful baby with bright eyes, curls all over her head, and a constant smile.

In 1958 the family moved to Bountiful, Utah, where the children were raised. On February 1, 1964, Rebecca was baptized and then confirmed the next day by her father as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church and spiritual things were important to her. In 9th grade Seminary, she chose as a self-initiated project to read the book, "Jesus the Christ," which she did-quite a feat for a 14-year old.

She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. Ever efficient in the use of her time, Beckie was always reading church magazines and inspiring books, even while fishing in the boat at Strawberry. Whether that gave her an unfair advantage or not, she always pulled in plenty of fish, humbling her siblings who did not.

Beckie was a natural scholar, an excellent student, who loved school and found great joy in lifelong learning. She was every teacher's dream student. She enjoyed volunteering as a Candy Striper at the local hospital. She graduated with high honors from Viewmont High School. She attended Rick's College on academic scholarship where she fulfilled her dream to become a registered nurse.

She later attended BYU, where she met Clark B Allred, a law student who won her heart. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 10, 1978. They made their home in Vernal, Utah, where he practiced law and she worked in the hospital. Their first child, Joel, was with them but a moment after his birth. This was a devastating loss for both Clark and Beckie. They were subsequently blessed with Tyler, Emily, Megan, and Justin, who filled their home and their lives with love and joy.

Beckie loved music, and excelled at playing the piano, violin, and organ. She participated in various orchestras throughout her life, and felt honored to be an organist in the Vernal Temple.
Beckie was always very disciplined with her music, and did not need her mother to tell her to practice.

As a young mother she enjoyed traveling, theater, and attending the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City with her family. She encouraged her children to love learning. She initiated fun projects, including hatching Monarch butterflies, creating rock collections and having the museum director teach them about the different rocks they found. They also loved exploring petroglyphs and going fossil hunting. She loved trying strange and different foods and activities. She worked with her children in cub scouts, boy scouts, and young womens. She also served formally in the Young Women organization of the church. Several women have commented on how she positively influenced their lives when they were teenagers.

Beckie loved her Savior, was valiant in her testimony of Jesus Christ, and followed His example by serving others personally, as well as in the temple. She was blessed with many spiritual gifts. She shone with Christlike purity, tenderness, patience, generosity, and had a sweet and gentle spirit. She was a peacemaker who did not speak ill of others. She often wrote thoughtful notes and letters filled with kindness and love. She had an adventurous soul that was also cultured, refined and articulate. Many loved being recipients of her gracious loving care both as a nurse and daughter of God.

In April of 2001, Beckie and Clark and two of their children were in a car accident. Beckie sustained a traumatic brain injury that changed the course of each of their lives. She was hospitalized in a coma for an extended period, and then was able to return home once she regained consciousness. Her disabilities of mind and body were a refining trial. Clark and their children demonstrated enduring love and care for her every day for the rest of her life. Despite her limitations Beckie remained gracious, cheerful and kind to others.

Beckie is survived by her husband, Clark B, Vernal, UT; children: Tyler, Roosevelt, UT; Emily (Dustin) Bradley, Vernal UT; Megan (Ryan) Friden, Orem, UT; Justin, Logan, UT. She and Clark have ten precious grandchildren.

Beckie was preceded in death by her parents, and baby son, Joel, and survived by her siblings: Maylene (Mark) Millburn, Kayla (Lorin) MacKay, Daniel (Cheryl) Allen, Scott (Tiffiny) Allen, Marcia (Scott) Stanford, Rozanne (Eric) Oldroyd, and Jennavee (Mathew) Anderson.
