Rodney DuWayne Cook passed away on Thursday, September 14th at the age of 76. Rod was born on May 9th, 1947 to Catherine Mary Weingardt Cook and Artie Rex Cook in Denver, Colorado. Rod married Mimi Chin Nguyen on August 9th, 1972 in Bell, Texas.
Rod enjoyed working on his house, playing the piano, riding his bike, taking pictures of nature with his wife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was proud to have served in the Army during the Vietnam war. In his spare time, he volunteered at the American Legion acting as one of their past treasurers.
Rod is survived by his wife Mimi, his two daughters, Susie Barrett and her husband Steve; Genie Le and her husband Nhut; and his grandchildren Jadyn, Josh, Bella, and Aiden. He is also survived by his mother, Catherine.
He is preceded in death by his father Artie, and his three brothers: Alan, Martin, and Michael.
Funeral Mass for Rodney will be held on Thursday, September 21st at 11:00am at St. James the Greater Catholic Church (138 N 100 W). Rosary will be from 10:30am ~ 11:00am. Military Honors by the American Legion Post 11 will follow at the church after Mass. Arrangements under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
