Roger May Obituary
Roger Dale May, age 70, passed away on August 13, 2019 at Utah Valley Hospital. He was born December 24, 1948 in Hot Springs, Virginia to Gratton May and Nancy Cauley May. He married Patsy Ryder. Together, they had a son, Gregory Dale May. They later divorced. He married Wendy Hatch. Together they had a daughter, Nancy Lynn May.
Roger worked in the field of underground construction which took him all over the country working on various projects. Roger and Wendy later settled permanently in Vernal where he worked as a rafting guide. He also worked for Ponderosa Oilfield Services and later for JRH Contracting, where he remained until his retirement.
Roger loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a knack for spotting elk, deer and other wildlife. He patiently taught Wendy to fly fish and took Nancy on hunting trips from an early age. He spent many happy hours fishing with Greg when he would visit. Roger looked forward to ping pong night with the boys and always had great stories to tell.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy. Daughter Nancy Nickell (Jesse), Vernal. Brother Jerry May and wife Carol, Chambersburg, PA. Brothers-in law John Hatch and wife Joy, Vernal. Clark Hatch and wife Shanon, Greeley. CO. Former wife, Patsy Meshaw, Rincon, GA. Grandchildren Mayson and Addyson Nickell, Vernal. Kali and Kanton May, Rincon, GA. Many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and son, Gregory Dale May.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 11:00 am at Ashley Valley Funeral Home, 410 N 800 W Vernal. Visitation Friday, August 16, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and prior to services from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the funeral home.
