Obituary

In Loving Memory of Ruby Laraine Reese Valora May 5, 1938 - August 12, 2023
Ruby Laraine Reese Valora, a beloved mother, grandmother, and artist, peacefully passed away on August 12, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on May 5, 1938, in Vernal, Utah, to Esther Wilhelmina Felt and Jacob Burton Reese. Ruby's life was a testament to the beauty she created in her family, her art, and the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

On August 15, 1961, Ruby embarked on a journey of love and companionship as she married Milton Scott Valora in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. This union was the cornerstone of her life, upon which she built her family.

Ruby's devotion to her family was unmatched. As a mother to eight daughters, she poured her heart into creating a warm and nurturing home. Her culinary and sewing skills were threads that wove together countless memories with her daughters. She was a beacon of creativity, her passion flowing through her paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Ruby's artistic expressions reflected her love for the whimsical and the magical.

Ruby had a deep love for poetry and delighted in reciting verses and crafting her own poems and limericks, using them as a canvas to express her unique sense of humor. Her words reflected her playful spirit and brought smiles to those fortunate enough to experience her poetic creations.

Her life was marked not only by her artistic endeavors but also by her empathy and compassion. Ruby had an innate ability to make others feel valued and seen, offering unwavering support to those around her. She was an advocate for the underdog, a source of encouragement, and a steady pillar of strength.

Ruby was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; she embraced her faith with devotion. Her service in various callings within the church illustrated her dedication to her beliefs and her community.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Amber (Robert) Snyder, Cherry Colton, Mindy (Preston) Taylor, Tami Valora, Christy (John) Nerdin, Brandi (Lynn) Bellows, Ginger Valora, and Brittany (Thomas) Schlosser. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to experience her love and guidance.

Ruby now rests in peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Milton Scott Valora, and her cherished granddaughter, Isabella Giese, who preceded her in death. While she is no longer with us in body, the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those she touched will forever remain.

As we remember Ruby Laraine Reese Valora, let us honor her memory by embracing creativity, empathy, and the beauty of life's simplest moments. Her life was a masterpiece and her love an everlasting gift.
