Steven "Jake" Jacob Sawyer

Steven Jacob "Jake" Sawyer passed away on Thursday August 3, 2023. He came into this earth on January 26, 2000, a long-awaited gift for his parents. Born and raised in Vernal, Utah he spent his childhood playing football, baseball, and basketball. It was through these activities that he made several lifelong friends. He enjoyed riding horses and dirt bikes and even took his chance at riding a bull. Jake was a good and loyal friend to many, his family and friends were always reminded of this at every good bye when he would tell you "I love you" before he left. His love for family grew immensely when in 2019 he and Aspen Torgerson were blessed with Kai Shane Sawyer. Jake loved his son with all his heart and was very proud of him. Jake was always a jokester and loved to make people laugh. He lived life with great intensity and he loved with that same intensity as well. Jake was the definition of dare devil and "that one crazy friend". To know Jake was to love him and all his wildness.

Jake is survived by his son; Kai Shane Sawyer, parents; Shannon Sawyer and Sue and Scott Slaugh, his sisters; Jitney Bird and Madison Sawyer; nephew; Jack Bird, grandparents Gale and Jackie Robbins and Scott and Susie Kos; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family and of course friends.

He is Preceded in death by closest friends and "brothers"; Travis and Shane, uncle; Donny Sawyer, and aunt; Mary Kos.

Funeral services for Jake will be held Friday August 11, 2023 at 11:00am at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 N 800 W). Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm and Friday 9:45am ~ 10:45am all at the funeral home. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
