Tammie Batty Obituary

Tammie Rae Carr Batty passed away on December 26, 2021 at the age of 63. Tammie was born on March 29, 1958 to Emma Mae Simon and Paul Devilla Carr in Craig, Colorado. She moved to Vernal, Utah with her mom and siblings when she was about three years old. She went to Uintah High School and graduated in 1976.

Tammie met Miles Randy Batty when she was 14 and he was 16, when they were both living in the Ashley Ward. After dating through high school, they got married on July 8, 1976 in the Provo, Utah Temple. They went on to have four children: Cammie Rae, Bud Miles, David Cole, and Ivan Kirk. Eventually, after many years of praying for granddaughters, she finally got promoted to Grandma of Bonnie Mae, Daveney Rae, Nico Jaret, August Nera, and Oakley Ray.

Tammie was an amazing seamstress. She started sewing when she was about six years old, when her Great Aunt Louise started teaching her by having her sew straight lines on pieces of fabric. If her line wasn't straight, she'd have to pick out the stitches and start over. By the time she was in high school, she was sewing her own dresses. Throughout her life she sewed everything from decorative pillows to wedding dresses to rodeo queen shirts to Halloween costumes. When her granddaughters came along, she enjoyed sewing all sorts of clothes for them, especially dresses. She was also talented at many other kinds of arts and crafts and always enjoyed trying new ones.

Tammie loved her family and loved doing anything that involved spending time with and supporting them. The family took countless trips with their camper and went all sorts of places like the local mountains; Yellowstone National Park; Las Vegas,Nevada; Disneyland; Sea World; Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument; Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico; and Quartzsite, Arizona. When her kids were young, she spent a lot of time hauling kids and horse trailers full of horses to various 4-H events. She served for many years on the Vernal City/Uintah County Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Later in life, she and Randy enjoyed going to tractor shows and making homemade ice cream. Through all these travels and endeavors, she made many lifelong friends.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Tammie had several callings over the years and led many Cub Scout pack meetings. She spent countless hours on pinewood derbies, Blue and Gold Banquets, and Arrow of Light awards. She loved teaching and helping kids, no matter who they belonged to. She always did whatever she could to help out anyone who needed it.

Tammie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Miles Randy Batty; children Bud (Mandi) Batty and Kirk (Hannah) Batty; grandchildren Bonnie Mae and Daveney Rae Batty, Nico Jaret Adelman, and August Nera and Oakley Ray Batty; siblings Barbara Kelly, Dale (Elaine) Carr, Arny (Shirley) Eksund, Dawn Eksund, and Quentin (Heidi) Toone; and many extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her children, Cammie Rae Batty and David Cole Batty, and her parents, Emma Mae Simon Bohrer and Paul Devilla Carr.
