Vadrus Joyce (Bodily) Roberts passed away on February 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Vadrus was born on October 18, 1933, to Olen and Reed Bodily in Vernal, Utah. She married Edward Burghardt and they later divorced. Vadrus married her eternal companion, Duane Wall and they were married for 36 years before his passing. She then married Lowell Roberts who passed away in November of 2023. Vadrus was a lifelong learner. She attended Brigham Young University after high school. She later graduated at the top of her nursing class, earning her RN at Weber State University. She kept her nursing degree and license current until she was 85 years old, saying that she worked too hard earning it to give it up. Vadrus was an excellent seamstress. She made the best homemade bread and bottled fruit. She was extremely resourceful, and great at making something beautiful out of nothing. She played the clarinet in the community orchestra and sang in many choirs. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Progressive Arts Club. Vadrus loved being an ordinance worker at the Vernal Utah Temple for many years. She studied the Russian language for 3 years before she and Duane served an LDS mission in Vladivostok, Russia. She served in many callings in the LDS church including Relief Society and Young Women's President and as the Girl's Camp nurse for several years. She loved to travel around the country and world with her children and grandchildren making memories they will treasure forever. Duane used to tease her, saying she was his "Go-Go girl". She is survived by her children: Annette (Kenneth) Reynolds, Lisa (Greg) Watkins, Lydia (Brent) Eaton, Anita (Lon) Ashmead, Laurie Sorensen (James McDowell), and Barbara (Robert) Madsen, 21 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren, siblings: Kent Bodily and Sharon Schaefermeyer; and son-in-law Kelly Sorensen. She is preceded in death by her parents and husbands. Siblings: Joseph Bodily, LaThare Bodily, Athly Thompson, Barbara Fairey, Carolyn Cook, Errol Bodily, Theron Bodily, and Alice Ruppe. Son, Ed Burghardt and Son-in-law, Gary Anders. Grandchildren: Andrea Bastian, Sheridan Madsen, Kevin Reynolds, Arika Simper, Matthew Simper, C. Kody Sorensen and Joshua Watkins. Great Grandchildren: Izzi Howcroft, Lauryn Reynolds, and Hunter Watkins. Funeral services for Vadrus will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the Vernal 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 475 West 100 South, Vernal, Utah. Vistation for family and friends from 10:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. Interment will be held in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, (300 South 3500 West) under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
