Wayne Douglas Kanady passed away on March 31, 2021 at the age of 76. Wayne was born on October 2, 1944 to Helen Harrison and Maurice Kanady in Baltimore, Maryland.
Wayne lived most of his adult life in Texas. He loved to go fishing, camping, play horseshoes, and look for gold. He loved going to Padre Island and eat fresh seafood even though he was allergic to some of it. He had a lot of different jobs from drywall, truck driver, maintenance man, and roustabout. His best friend was Vern Collins and I always referred to him as the grumpy old man. Where one was the others were not far behind.
Wayne taught his daughter Tonya how to put makeup on when she was 14. He also taught her how to drywall, and how to drive. When Tonya's son was a baby, he would help her walk the floor with him when he would cry all night. He loved his grandchildren and if he was around when they were born, he carried them out of the hospital.
Wayne had a close relationship with his brother Ken and sister-in-law Debbie Kanady. He and Ken are having one heck of time in heaven right now. He also had a special bond with his grandson Joey. They did everything together, and Joey loved his papa very much.
He is survived by the love of his life, Joan Nelson, daughter; Tonya (Jasen) Morgan, son; Bill (Tessa) Ormsbee, John Hull. Grandchildren; Joey (Sharon), Mathew, Daniel, and Alecia Ormsbee, Angie Johnson, Billy Moon, great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Hansen, Raiden Johnson, Jonathan, Myha, and Wade Ormsbee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ken and Jay Kanady, and daughter-in-law Dannielle Kinder Hull.
Wayne's wishes were to donate his body to science to help those in the medical field to further their education. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Services and care have been entrusted to the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.AshleyValleyFuneralHome.com
