Weldon E Wooley passed away August 24, 2023, surrounded by family in Sheldon, Missouri. Weldon was born March 1, 1930 in Tridell, UT to Milton E. and Della Moosman Wooley. He was the eldest of eight children. He entered the Army in 1947. He served in the Philippines and Korea as a lineman. He had the opportunity to speak with General Dwight Eisenhower.
He married Delores Robbins in 1951. They had six children, Arlinda, Vickie, Barbara, Claudia, Christine and Wade. They lived in Nebraska for a time, but lived mostly in Vernal. They later divorced.
While working in the oilfield in Wyoming, he met Audrey Miller Gibson, bringing six more children into the family. Ray, Gene, Barbara, John, Michelle and Debra. They married in December 1970. He taught his kids how to work, garden, farm, fish, and have fun. He bought a casing pulling rig and started Utah Colorado Casing Pullers. He had an interest in race horses, spending his weekends at the race track. He and Audrey would go fishing in Mazatlan. If you visited his house, you would see the marlin hanging on the wall. He bought an ultralight and would be seen flying over the valley, and possibly crashing now and then. He loved animals, having everything available in his house. If he could catch it, he brought it home. There was a badger, a baby skunk, a coyote. Many sick pigs and chickens were nursed in the house. He raised pigs, chickens, cows, turkeys, parrots, dogs and cats.
When Audrey passed in 2004, he married Mabel Hudson. They were married until Mabel died in 2019. He was proud to grow and eat his own food. He loved to share with the neighbors. He had a very thriving raspberry patch.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wives; Delores, Audrey and Mabel, daughter; Christine Baker, son-in-law; Charles Van, great-great granddaughter; Laylaith Dendler, siblings; Ione Wooley, Velda Corralz, Cleo Proctor, Norman Wooley, and sister-in-law; Georgia.
He is survived by his children; Arlinda Van (Iowa), Vickie Williams (Missouri), Barbara Stavropoulos (Vernal UT), Claudia & Stephen Stacy (Missouri), Wade Wooley (Missouri), Ray Robertson, Gene & Cheryl Robertson, Barbara & Earl Speirs, John Robertson, Debbie Wooley all of Vernal, and Michelle Jacquess (Wyo), son-in-law; Tim Baker. Joseph Lewis was also brought into the family through Weldon's six children. Numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. Sisters Berta Young (SLC UT), Nila Jean & John Eldredge (Lehi UT), and Eileen Yano (SLC UT).
He loved children. They always brought a smile to his face. His great-great grandchildren brought many smiles to his face in his last months.
The family would like to thank Corey and Darcy Goodrich for always being there for dad. You always went above and beyond. Gentiva Hospice in Missouri for the excellent care they took of dad. Always bringing a smile to his face. Special thank you to his daughter Vickie for taking dad into her home and caring for him his final nine months. We love you.
Funeral services for Weldon will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 12:00PM at the Davis 2nd Ward Chapel (4080 South 2500 East). A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Saturday 10:45-11:45AM at the Church. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
