William "Bill" Ryan Obituary

Bill Ryan passed away on April 28, 2023 at the age of 76. Bill was born on March 12, 1947 to Dixie and Robert Ryan in Owatonna, Minnesota. He was the oldest of 5 children. Bill married Darlene 48 years ago. They moved to Vernal and said, " We will only be here a few years." The famous last words of many people who have moved to Vernal. They made Vernal their home and together raised their 3 children. Bill and Darlene started a successful oilfield consulting company Rocky Mountain Consulting.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting elk and deer in Utah. Traveling to the Midwest to hunt snow geese with his son Mike and hunt whitetail on the property they owned together. He often times would then travel north to hunt ducks with his son Pat and then work his way back home to Utah in time for the fall hunts. As time went on, he was not able to get into the mountains as much as he would like so he then enjoyed hours upon hours fishing at his favorite lakes. Very seldom did he ever come home without his limit.

Bill served on many boards and organizations in the Uintah Basin. Most recently he served on the board at UBTech until 2021. He was recently honored with the Champions award from UBTech which was a great recognition of his time served and passion for technical education.

Bill had many talents in his personal life as well. He was an artist with a Dremel tool and created beautiful knife handles out of elk horn with his signature eagle head on them. He spent thousands of hours doing intricate bead work and built numerous breathtaking muzzleloader rifles.

The best words to describe Bill come from his children,
"My Dad is a very passionate and dedicated person, not only in his professional life, but personal life as well."
"He's an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a talented carver and knife maker."
"My Dad enjoys the challenge of solving problems, be it how to fix something broken or finding where the fish are biting best."

Bill is survived by his wife Darlene, His children Patrick (Marcella), Michael, and Sarah (Ty), 5 grandchildren that were truly the light of his life, His Mother Dixie, Brothers Bob, Ken, and sister Christine.

He is preceded in death by his Father and Brother Tim.
